the autumn wind

as it danced with the trees

skimmed the hedge-tops

rustled the leaves that weakened

and left their summer perches

to join the swishing

swaying grass below

hissing when the wind bent the blades

to its will

and teased and played

and revelled in the sun’s autumnal glow.
