Early Morning We Walk

The silence, Meaning only nature, Cooing, Chirping, Twittering. The coolness of shortening shadows, The freshness of the awakening Spring, Breathe deep, The smell of the season’s flora, As the neighbourhood slumbers, As we, Early morning walk. It could be a Monday, Or a Thursday, Or any week day, In these days of different ways, But no, It is Sunday, And still it feels, Unlike the others. No church bells chime, No calling clang, But it is too soon, As, Early morning we walk. But even if later, The church bells are dumb, Redundant, Furloughed, Until a time to ring out, … Continue reading Early Morning We Walk

That Moment When Darkness Confuses (Winter)

That moment when darkness confuses, But wide open eyes see, When confusion heightens awakening senses, When the air is fresh and clear, Cold air smacks unprotected skin, And the stars in their multitudes, Become real, distant, yet near. That moment when he ran down the lane, Darting ahead, Running free, Beneath the star speckled sky, Wanting to be the first, The first to the five bar gate. Cocooned in the warmth of a protective arm. As a finger painted across the endless canvas, The Plough, the North Star, Orion’s Belt, Wonder filled those gazing eyes, When constellations and light years, … Continue reading That Moment When Darkness Confuses (Winter)

Alone – A Sad Farewell (Winter Now) V2

The lowering sun dipped and bade a sad farewell, Dragged golden rays into mournful slumber, Reluctantly it slid behind a band of grey, That sat atop the winter horizon. Translucent view through crystal eyes believed, The whipping wind enticed a flow of tears, Rather than happy recollections of long lost years. A view once shared and stories told, Now isolation presses down upon a soul, Recalling warmth and smiles and laughter, As memories pour down from wide open skies, Memories at the five bar gate. * The Five Bar Gate Series * Continue reading Alone – A Sad Farewell (Winter Now) V2

A New Way Of Life – Day 15

I have always thought that my own creativity has been passed on to me by mum, although I will never be as talented as she is. Over the years, she has tried her hand at so many different arts and crafts; … Continue reading A New Way Of Life – Day 15

Alone – A Sad Farewell (Winter Now)

The lowering sun bid a sad farewell, Reluctantly slipping behind a band of grey that sat upon the winter horizon, Wrapped against the late afternoon chill, He fooled himself, Pretended that the tears were a watering, A result of the whipping wind against his face, But tears they were, Real and sad, Lonely droplets wiped away by a gloved hand. The wide view, Across the field was different, No longer shared as he leaned in isolation, Recalling the warmth of fond memories, Memories at the five bar gate. * The Five Bar Gate Series * Continue reading Alone – A Sad Farewell (Winter Now)

A New Way Of Life – Day 13

The Whisper on the Breeze Across the fields of her mind, To a sanctuary lost and never found, To a place beyond a green horizon, To a place where a summer breeze, Spoke words of calm, Of tranquillity, Of hope for pastures new. She lay in a field of green, Splayed and facing blue, The whispering breeze danced amongst the blades, The blades danced with freedom, As she whispered back, ‘Take me with you, To pastures new.’ She felt the breeze brush contours smooth, Cooling with sensations divine, Feeling at one with nature’s delight, Maybe this was her pasture new.
