Lock-down Hair

I had forgotten what it was like to use a hair brush and a comb. Being follicly-challenged, I haven’t had to waste time with these instruments of confusion for many years, in fact *whispering* – a few decades if truth be told. The amount of time I have saved over the years through not having to deal with all that male grooming stuff is immeasurable – not to mention the money I must have saved by not having to buy products or pay barber’s fees. If I was to make some very basic calculations, by my reckoning, I use around … Continue reading Lock-down Hair

A New Way Of Life – Day 21

Not so new anymore…. This ‘A New Way Of Life’ series is drawing to an end with this post – simply because it no longer feels like a new way. The old way of life feels like a lifetime ago now and the new way, well….it has almost become the normal way. Perhaps a new series could be titled, ‘A Normal Way Of Life.’ But of course, none of us want the way the world currently is, to remain normal. Having to hear about ever-increasing death tolls, front-line workers continuously calling for more supplies of personal protective equipment (PPE), and … Continue reading A New Way Of Life – Day 21

A New Way Of Life – Day 20

Perhaps a new way of life will lead to a new career path…. Back in Lockdown County, things have just got even more serious – there are no hairdressers open and one of us, (not me as I am follically challenged), needs some hair pampering. So, for something a little different, I was trusted to don an apron, black rubber gloves and left in charge of the hair-dye kit! I think I was fortunate to have enough P.P.E. to complete this delicate job. Judging by the happy look on my beautiful wife’s face, I think I must have done a … Continue reading A New Way Of Life – Day 20

A New Way Of Life – Day 19

We may be stuck in Lockdown County, but Easter was able to get through to pay us a visit… I think we now have enough essential supplies to keep us going for the remainder of the lock-down. As we head towards an Easter Sunday unlike any others in our life-times, I can’t help but wonder if we will ever experience another like it. I hope not, but as things open up again in China and governments are being asked about how long before lock-downs are eased, a possible feeling of deja vu may be a sensation we are likely to … Continue reading A New Way Of Life – Day 19

A New Way Of Life – Day 12

Normal service was resumed today…. The poor Devonian (Englishman) has been put back in his place…..the rich Italian has returned! After venturing out into the scary new world of face-masks and latex gloves, we gathered some supplies having not gone into a supermarket for around two weeks. Some luxury items were obtained, such as clothes washing liquid, medications and potatoes. There were also some essentials in the trolley like, chocolate, Belgian waffles and of course, a decent supply of……COFFEE! This weird new way of life could not be endured by this poor Devonian without a rich Italian. Cheers! Continue reading A New Way Of Life – Day 12

A New Way Of Life – Day 6

Being mindful of supplies. With ‘long-life’ milk, deliveries from a local community farm of fresh fruit, veg and meat, and ingredients to make our own hand sanitiser, we feel as equipped as we can be to deal with the weeks and months ahead. There are however, one or two challenges we will need to deal with along the way. Not all the pieces of the jigsaw are going to automatically fall into place. Some patience is going to be required and some adapting to this new way of life is going to be needed. To set the scene, it is … Continue reading A New Way Of Life – Day 6
